Information File for the 1993 As Played Schedule

NOTE:
Schedule.001 is the 1993 as played schedule built for League
Manager(Baseball for Windows) and was designed to work with
Professional Baseball on the 1993 datadisk. Use Advanced Draft
to copy Professional Baseball and the schedule to a new organization
in order to replay the schedule. Schedule.003 is the 1994 season
offical schedule built for League Manager and is designed to work
with Professional Preplay-94 on the 1993 data disk. Both schedules
will be automatically copied to the correct organization when you
install the 1993 data disk into Baseball for Windows.

Schedule and pitcher rotation information for 1993 is provided
in the file 1993SKED.CSV. Trades, DL assignements and other player
transactions (including the opening day roster) are contained in the
file 1993TRAN.CSV. Schedule information for 1994 is provided
in the file 1994OFF.CSV. These files are ASCII text file which
uses commas (,) to separate each field value. For example each
game is listed in the schedule CSV file in the following format:

Date,Game,Time,Visiting Team,Home Team, Visiting Starter,Home
Starter,League
(an entry would look similar to this)
4/9/XX,1,D,San Diego,Cincinnati,Hurts,Frowning,L2

Explanation of the codes:
Date: Date game was played
Game: Refers to whether or not it was the first or second game
played on the scheduled date (double header games would be 1 or
2)
Time: Indicates if day (D) or night (N) game

Because of licensing agreements, Miller Associates is prohibited
from using actual team names and league names. Therefore League 1 and L1
refer to the "Junior Circuit" and correspond to League 1 on the data disk.
League 2 and L2 refer to the "Senior Circuit" and correspond to League 2
on the data disk.

The file 1993SKED.CSV can be viewed and modified or sorted using
any text editor, or can be loaded in most spreadsheet or database
programs. It supplements the league schedule file for APBA
Baseball for Windows and provides the additional information of
the actual starting pitchers for each game played during the
season.

Particular notes pertaining to the league schedule file and the
1993SKED.CSV file:
These are the schedules as actually played with the rainouts and
postponements built right in. In some cases, games ended in ties
or were replayed later in the season - the schedule does not
include the replayed games because the original game might not
end in a tie for the replayer - those decisions will be left to
you when a tie occurs. These are noted in this file.

Notes on the 1993 season:

1993 provided a great season of baseball with two teams from
the western division of the Senior Circuit surpassing the 100 win
mark and Atlanta finally clinching on the last day of the season
when San Francisco lost to Los Angeles. Atlanta, taking the
division title for the third straight year, finished with 104
wins, San Francisco 103. San Francisco bolted out of the gate
and had a 9 game lead at the break and never really let down, but
the Braves had a tremendous second half to win. In the East,
Philadelphia lead from beginning to end, first fighting off St.
Louis and then staying in front of Montreal down the stretch, and
finally clinching September 28. The Junior Circuit east race was
spirited for most of the year before defending World Champion
Toronto took control in late September to take the division.
They had been pursued or led by Detroit, New York, Baltimore and
Boston through various stages of the year. Chicago won in the
West, but not before battling Texas and, for a short while,
Kansas City. The stage was set for another Atlanta-Toronto World
Series, but Philadelphia pulled the upset and won the Senior
Curcuit crown. Toronto, however, did best Chicago in the six game
league championship series. Toronto then went on to be the first
repeat winner in the World Series since 1978 taking the title in
six games when Joe Carter ended the series with a 9th inning homer
(only the second time in history the series has ended with a home run.

1993 saw both the Senior and Junior Circuits produce
unanimous selections for Rookie of the Year - Mike Piazza for the
Senior Circuit and Tim Salmon for the Junior Circuit. It also
saw the end of brilliant careers for Nolan Ryan and George Brett.

The May 28 Montreal at Chicago game was a tie and replayed August
17 as game 2 of a double header.
