In 1943 a major redesign of the Churchill was undertaken. The resulting
Churchill VII contained many improvements: a large turret, a reliable engine,
and thicker armor. By 1945, however, its 75mm gun was considered to be
under gunned compared to German vehicles. This often forced the Churchill VII
into an infantry support role, rather than a tank killer. As with the rest
of the series the Churchill VII was a slow moving tank.
