
The Cromwell I was a descendant of the Crusader and appeared in 1942.
It featured a Rolls Royce Meteor engine and by 1944 carried a 75mm gun
specifically designed to fire the same ammunition as the Sherman. The 75mm was 
sufficient to deal with the Pz-IV's but useless against the German Panther. It was the
fastest British Cruiser tank, and was the most important British-
built tank in 1944-45.
