The Cromwell VII was a descendant of the Crusader and appeared in 1944.
It had a Rolls Royce Meteor engine and by 1944 carried a 75mm gun specifically
designed to fire the same ammunition as the Sherman. It was the fastest
British Cruiser tank, and was the most widely used British-built
tank in 1944-45. This made the Cromwell well suited for scouting missions.
