The Matilda II-CS Infantry Tank was faster and more heavily armored than its
predecessor, and carried a 2lb gun capable of destroying any German tank in
use in 1940. Its thick armor and well-protected tracks made it virtually
invulnerable to all but the German 88 anti-tank gun. In fact, in North Africa, the Matilda
was dubbed "Queen of the Battlefield." Its lack of speed in desert
terrain, however, should be noted.
