The Pz-IIIj was intended to be replace the Panzer division's armor in early
1941, but was delayed until 1942. The Pz-IIIj was basically the same as the
Pz-IIIh but had better armor in both the hull and turret. The biggest change
was the longer barreled 50L60mm cannon. This allowed the Pz-IIIj to hit
targets at a longer range with improved penetrating power. It still had
problems dealing with tanks like the T-34 but this tank saw service as late
as 1944.
