One of the best tanks of the war, the Panther PzKfw (Panzerkampfwagen) V
was more than a match for Allied tanks when it was introduced in 1943.
The Panther's main armament was a long-barreled 75mm cannon which was
superior to the short-barreled 75mm gun (low velocity) which the U.S.
Sherman tanks carried. It also had excellent armor in its hull and turret
and was capable of moving very fast. The only weak point was that its side
armor was somewhat weak.
