Like its predecessor, the Pz-IV, the Pz-IVf was designed to take on the
heavier Russian T-34. Foresight in design and reliability in use enabled
it to be the only German tank to remain in production throughout the entire
war. The Pz-IVf saw action in June, 1942, on the Eastern Front, as well as
in Kursk, 1943. The Pz-IVf had good front hull armor but weak side armor.
