
The backbone of German air support was the Ju-87b Stuka. The Ju-87
began service in the Spring of 1937 and saw combat on every front the
Germans fought on during the war. The Stuka carried a 7.92mm machine gun as
well as 500lb bombs, and had moderate armor protection. Later versions of
this plane carried 30mm anti-tank cannon for tank-busting missions.
