The M4a3 Sherman tank differed from other early Shermans by have a Ford V8
engine. Due to the engine's high ouput, compact design, and ease of
maintence, the M4a3 became the preffered model for Army service. This
Sherman had improved front armor and carried a 75mm gun. The gun, however,
was not strong enough to defeat the German tanks like the Panther.
