

Of the over 4,500 M4a3 Sherman tanks, more than half included a new
suspension system which provided a better ride and better aiming ability.
These were called the M4a3e8 Sherman, or "Easy Eight," in reference the ride
and the "e8" in the name. This Sherman was upgunned with the newer 76mm
anti-tank gun and had a good chance to damage German Panther tanks.
