WAKE ISLAND Dec. 23rd, 1941 -

Only 400 Marines and 1000 construction workers stood in the way of the entire
Japanese 2nd SNLF Division. Despite being outnumbered and outgunned, the
Marines made the Japanese pay a heavy price for the island. Wake's gun
batteries took out landing ships, destroyers and even a light cruiser. It
would take several days of heavy fighting before the island fell. But, for the
rest of the war the battle cry "Remember Wake Island" would rally America.
