WALAWBUM March 8th, 1944 -

As part of General Stilwell's plan to break the stalemate in Northern Burma,
the Japanese 18th Division was to be encircled near the village of Walawbum.
Using the Chinese 1st Provisional Tank Group and 66th Regiment, they advanced
against the Japanese rearguard. While they managed to capture their objectives,
they were not quick enough to prevent the Japanese from escaping.
