TRAILS OF KOHIMA April 17th, 1944 -

In March of 1944, the Japanese 15th Army launched Operation U-GO. The goal
was not to invade India but rather a spoiling attack to forestall the
upcoming Allied Burma offensive. Catching the British by surprise, several
British units were cut off by the end of March. The area around the small
town of Kohima was near a critical road junction. This scenario covers one
of the series of night battles for the hills in the area. The Japanese of the
31st Infantry Division were assigned to take the hills defended by the 23rd
Indian Division.
