The Dig is written as a 32 bit program. In order for a 32 bit program

to run under DOS, a DOS EXTENDER is used to allow a 32 bit program run

on DOS, which is a 16 bit operating system. We have found that some

computers will behave differently with different versions of the DOS

EXTENDER that we use, so to help you out, we have provided you with

4 batch programs that will replace the DOS EXTENDER used by The Dig.

By typing 'inst195', an earlier version of the DOS EXTENDER will replace

the default that we ship with. After typing 'inst195', the game will try

running with an alternate DOS EXTENDER. The default is 'inst197', but you

may also want to try 'inst192', or 'inst180'.

At the D:\SUPPORT> prompt (where D: is the letter of your CD-ROM drive),

type INST195 and press Enter. Switch back to the root directory of your

CD-ROM by typing CD.. and pressing Enter. Then try and run The DIG by typing

DIG. If the game still crashes, try the above steps with INST180 or

INST192.
