    ===================================================================

Very Important...
=================

Sound Quality has been defaulted to 70% to ensure that there are no initial
problems with lower-spec machines. If you have a faster machine (486DX+)
then immediately increase the SOUND QUALITY setting in the AUDIO OPTIONS
section.

Information...
==============

Because of our intention to release WORMS PATCHES, including the forthcoming
Modem/Network support-patch, the game is installed to your hard-drive and
reads its data files from the CD. This means that the program will take up
a little more space on your hard-drive, but this should not be more than
2 megabytes in the worst case scenario. You can select exactly where you
would like the data to be installed to, the default directory is one
named WORMS.

Enhancements...
===============

The following features have been added to the game and do are not documented
in the game manual...

[1] Sample Sets
    -----------

        The game now supports 4 different languages for the in-game speech;

        English (Default), American, French and German.

        The option to change this is in the AUDIO OPTIONS, accessed through
        the WORM OPTIONS screen.

[2] Worm Song
    ---------

        We have included a specially recorded WORM SONG. This extra track
        can be played via the AUDIO OPTIONS and will randomly play during
        a demo game. Credits for the production of the track are included
        in the manual. We had a lot of fun with this...

[3] Quick Exit-To-Dos
    -----------------

        If you need, for whatever reason, to exit to DOS rather quickly
        (ie. If the boss is coming!) then ALT-X will close everything down.

System Requirements
===================

        Minimum Spec:
        -------------
        386 DX 33/4Mb

        Recommended Spec:
        -----------------
        486 DX2/66/8Mb, 16bit Soundblaster

        Preferred Spec:
        ---------------
        DX4/100+/Pentium, 16Mb, 1Mb Gravis/16bit Soundblaster

Sound
=====

Worms will autodetect and use any 100% Soundblaster compatable or Gravis
Ultrasound. CD Rom users need to have their CD audio connected through their
sound-card. Soundblaster uses can set the quality of the samples through
the Audio menu, the faster the machine, the better they will be. Good sound
effects make great games even better, Worms is no different - do not
compromise on your sound hardware if you wish to get the most out of your
PC entertainment software!

Protection Code-Sheet
=====================

A code sheet protection book has been included with the floppy disk version
of the game. Please enter the 3 digit code found at the location specified.

The CDROM version does not contain protection - please use an original copy,
do not accept pirate copies of games.

Worms and Windows/Windows'95
============================

We do not recommend playing WORMS under WINDOWS/WINDOWS 3.1 - if your machine
is running DOS from boot, run Worms from DOS.

WORMS will run under WINDOWS'95 and works best in single-application mode (it
requires most of the CPU resources due to the graphics routines). You may
wish to create a shortcut to the application (WORMS.EXE) and alter the
properties so that it runs in MS-DOS mode to ensure that the game runs
fine.

We recommend that if you run the game from WINDOWS'95 that you disable any
Soundblaster device drivers in order to reduce any possible driver conflict
that may result in the game running without music/sound-effects. Please
ensure that you have enough system RAM available in order to run the game,
you may be required to close other applications in order to free up system
resources, thus enabling the game to run.

Note: Gravis Ultrasound detection under Windows'95...
-----------------------------------------------------

It is currently (as this is being written!) impossible to reliably detect
for Gravis Ultrasound hardware under Windows'95. Therefore we have removed
the option to auto-detect for this card. You may however manually select
the card through the options available.

Piracy...
=========

Please note that both Team17 and Ocean require your support in order to
continue to develop and publish quality, playable PC titles. Please respect
the tremendous hard work and enthusiasm shown by our developers and use only
authorised copies of the game. Worms has been a massive project and offers
unlimited gameplay options for all true game fans.
